Prevention Services
Explained

Preventive dentistry is vital in maintaining good oral health and preventing dental problems. It includes various services and practices to minimize the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. Here are the essential components of preventive care:

Preventive Dentistry: Preventive dentistry refers to the overall strategies and treatments designed to prevent dental problems before they develop. Regular dental check-ups by your Dental Team are crucial to identify potential issues early. Preventive treatments include fluoride applications to strengthen tooth enamel and dental sealants to protect the grooves of the back teeth from decay.

Restorative Dentistry: When teeth decalcification has already occurred, dentists can still arrest the incipient lesion and prevent it from progressing deeper with ICON resin infiltration therapy.

Paedriatric Dentistry: Paedriatric dentistry focuses on children’s oral health from infancy through adolescence. Routine preventive care for children includes early examinations to monitor the development of their teeth and gums, advice on proper oral hygiene practices, and the importance of good nutrition. Pediatric dentists also provide fluoride treatment, dental sealants, and education for parents and children on the risks of childhood cavities.

Orthodontics: As children grow and develop or adults lose or wear down their teeth, the need for orthodontic evaluations may arise to address alignment and bite issues as they can lead to several oral health issues, including difficulty in cleaning the teeth, increased risk of gum disease, tooth wear, jaw pain, and chewing problems.

Radiological Services: These are imaging technologies used to diagnose dental issues that may not be visible during a regular exam. These images provide crucial information to detect problems such as cavities, gum disease, impacted teeth, bone loss, and infections in their earliest stages.

  • Dental X-rays can help identify cavities between teeth, tooth decay under existing fillings, and problems in the jaw’s bone structure.
  • Panoramic X-rays provide a broad view of the teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures.
  • Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) provides 3D images, often used in planning complex dental procedures, implant placements, and removal of deeply impacted wisdom teeth with curved roots.

Special Care Dentistry: Special care dentistry addresses the unique dental needs of individuals who require additional support due to physical, developmental, mental, or medical conditions. This may include patients with disabilities, special healthcare needs, or complex medical histories requiring personalised dental care.

Maintaining good oral health starts with prevention. Regular care ensures healthier teeth and gums for life.
