What is endodontic retreatment?
Endodontic retreatment involves the additional steps of removing the old root canal post and filling, locating narrow, curved or irregular canals that were not treated during the initial procedure and redebridement of the canals to ensure complete removal of bacteria from the root canals.
This is commonly carried out in 2 visits or more, depending on the complexity of the tooth.
The canals are then redebrided and filled with gutta percha and the tooth is sealed with a permanent restoration.
